The U.S. Federal Trade Commission revealed in a recent court filing on November 2 that Amazon.com employed a number of unlawful tactics to increase profits at its online retail empire, including an algorithm that increased prices paid by American families by more than $1 billion.
The FTC case was filed in September, but many facts were kept secret until a later filing was made public in U.S. District Court in Seattle. This new filing included fewer redactions.
