Even though it’s just the autumn of 2023, it’s evident that CIOs have negative expectations for their network designs for 2024. Out of the 83 respondents I actually received feedback from, 59 indicate they anticipate “serious problems” with their network planning for the upcoming year, and 71 indicate they will be “under more pressure” in 2024 than they were this year. Although CIOs work in a demanding environment, their expectations for 2024 are the lowest of the last 20 years—aside from the Covid era. Though some people may be hunching over a little, nobody is proclaiming that the sky is falling, a la Chicken Little.
