The CDC study found that there was a greater rate of decline in the mental health of healthcare professionals in the United States when comparing their well-being and mental health measures with those of workers in other critical industries.
During a Tuesday call with media, the CDC’s chief medical officer, Debra Houry, issued a warning, stating that COVID-19 has made long-standing issues that healthcare workers face more severe. These issues include compassion fatigue, melancholy, anxiety, drug use disorders, and suicidal thoughts.
