The AI PC Acceleration Programme, which Intel recently unveiled, intends to give resources to hardware and software vendors so they can develop AI-powered features that can take advantage of the company’s upcoming Core Ultra mobile chips, code-named “Meteor Lake,” which will have AI capabilities and go on sale on December 14.
Notably, the processors are the first from Intel to include an inbuilt AI accelerator, dubbed the neural processing unit (NPU). However, an NPU alone won’t persuade consumers to purchase new computers; Intel must persuade them of the necessity of AI acceleration.
