Customers may have been informed by Samsung Electronics’ UK business of a data security breach that lasted for a year. This is the third occurrence of this kind that the South Korean company has reportedly encountered globally in the last two years.
Troy Hunt, the author of Have I Been Pwned and online security consultant, said on social media that he identified the breach on November 13 and sent an email to consumers revealing the data of customers who made purchases between July 1, 2019 and June 30, 2020.
According to Samsung Electronics UK, an unauthorised person took advantage of a flaw in a third-party business programme that the company was using. Email addresses, physical locations, and phone numbers were among the details that were made public.
