An ethical hacker has taken control of a CIA Telegram channel that is meant to receive intelligence by taking advantage of a flaw in the way X truncates URLs.
Kevin McSheehan, also known online as “Pad,” noticed the problem after he hovered over the Telegram channel link that the CIA had posted on its X social media site.
Sometime after September 27, the CIA modified its profile, and McSheehan was able to register the new, unregistered handle since the Telegram link shortened, removing a portion of the entire username.
